About

What is Communiversity?

Communiversity is a platform that bridges universities and communities through collaborative, real-world projects. We connect four key groups — community partners, faculty, students, and teaching assistants — to work together on initiatives that make a tangible difference.

The Four Roles

Community Partners

Local organizations, nonprofits, and businesses who have real challenges to solve. They submit project ideas and collaborate with student teams to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Faculty

University instructors who integrate community projects into their courses. They match projects to learning objectives, form student teams, and guide the academic experience.

Students

Learners who gain hands-on experience by working on real community projects. They develop professional skills while contributing to their community.

Teaching Assistants

Graduate students and advanced undergraduates who help facilitate teams, provide mentorship, and support faculty in managing projects.

How It Works

  1. Submit a Project: Community partners describe the challenge they need help with — from website redesigns to data analysis, event planning to research.
  2. Match Teams: Faculty review submitted projects and match them to their courses. They create student teams with the right skills for each project.
  3. Collaborate: Students work directly with community partners throughout the semester. Course materials and assignments are managed through our Moodle learning platform, while project coordination happens here.
  4. Deliver Results: Teams deliver real, usable outcomes to community partners — not just academic exercises, but solutions that create lasting impact.

The University-Community Partnership

Communiversity is built on the belief that universities and communities thrive when they work together. Students gain practical experience that goes beyond the classroom. Community organizations get access to talented teams and fresh perspectives. Faculty connect their teaching to real-world impact. Everyone benefits.

Our platform manages the entire project lifecycle — from initial submission through team formation, collaboration, and final delivery — making it easy for all parties to stay connected and on track.
